Anger after atheists in Kenya President Harrison Mumia use Dusit attack to prove God does not exist

A section of Kenyans have reacted angrily after the head of the Atheists in Kenya movement Harrison Mumia used the Dusit terror incident as proof that God does not exist.

Mumia, notorious for making provocative statements, posted a status that appeared to mock Kenyans who believe in God.

“Having #GodlessBeer at Two Rivers Mall! By the way those praying to God to protect Kenyans nini nini - Why didn't God stop the attack at #RiversideMall ??? #GodIsNotGreat,” much to the chagrin of the Kenyans on social media.

Many of those who commented said it was in bad taste to use such a sad incident to advocate a personal cause.

“I think it's in bad taste to use such incidents to justify your non-beliefs. People lost lives. Can't you let go of the god/God debate just for a sec? Sometimes, you just stoop too low Harry,” Gisalrico Luciferiak posted.

“One man in that attack asked for communal prayer, they even went to his hiding place but God rescued him. I don't want to insult you wefwe, im in that mood by the way, let me resist,” Kenfish Peter said.

“Dude ni nini? Your godless self thinks now ati this is a justification for the non-existence of God? Ile thunder itakupata iko gym saa hii. We are watching and unfortunately social media doesn’t forget,” Mochama Nyabuya.

However, there were some who resonated with Harrison Mumia’s view and supported his statement.

“Am starting to think that prayers can’t resolve anything. Its just like ‘wishing for something to happen’. Many Kenyans pray for protection for themselves and country and yet from time to time incidents like this happen. It reminds me of that case of university students in Garissa who were killed as they prayed,” Mutahi Mwangi stated.

The development came even as the number of fatalities rose to 21, according to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
