The elderly woman was raped before her death and her lifeless body soaked in acid.
She had gone missing last week after attending a church services, only for her body to be discovered over the weekend at a nearby river.
Njoki’s daughter-in-law Edith Njeri said the body showed signs a brutal death which intrigued the family since the late had good relations with neighbors.
“I was shocked to find my mother (in law) dead. She was light-skinned but she was all dark, as if she had been burnt. I fear she might have been raped due to the position I found her in. She had scratches on the face and backside.”
“My mother is loved by fellow villagers as she was used to visiting them and they would also treat her well. I wonder who would do the heinous act on a harmless old woman,” Njeri stated.
Police have launched investigations into the murder although no suspects have been arrested.
