Arsenal star midfielder Mesut Ozil on Monday gifted a Kenyan herds boy with his jersey, a new pair of boots and caps.

Ozil through social media, stated that the decision was inspired after he saw a tweet of the boy identified as Lawrence wearing a self-made shirt donning his jersey number.

The German-born player went a step further and extended the gesture to Lawrence’s brother.

“The picture of a Kenyan boy with a self-made shirt on Twitter touched me so much. And look at Lawrence now

“It's so heart warming to see him and his brother happy,” read a post by Ozil.

Lawrence fortunes changed after sports reporter Eric Njiru from Homeboyz radio, tweeted how he interacted with the young boy and learnt that he was a huge supporter of the former Real Madrid player.

Late Maina receives special recognition from Arsenal

In January, Arsenal gave a special recognition to Carilton David Maina who was killed in Kibra in 2018 by a police officer.

Maina, who was an engineering student at Leeds University, had been featured in the London-based club match day programme when the team played against Cardiff City at the Emirates stadium.

The ardent supporter of the team nicknamed the gunners, died after being shot by an Administration Police (AP) as he and his friends came from watching a football match.
