KDF soldiers kill 52 in fierce attack

In a statement, the ministry of defence stated that KDF soldiers launched an attack in the enemy’s camp and killed 52 terrorists while others escaped with injuries.

“On Friday 21 April 2017 at 1:00am, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under African Union mission in Somali (AMISOM) successfully raided and destroyed an Al-Shabab terrorist camp located 9 KM North of Sarira, Badhaadhe region of lower Jubba,” part of the statement reads.

KDF confirmed that the attack was made possible by proper intelligence which cited a lot of troops concentrated in the area.

“Following the operation, the initial assessment indicates that approximately fifty (52) terrorists were killed while others fled with injuries. The following items were additionally captured; seven (7), AK 47 rifles, one (1) PKM gun, two (2) phones, one hundred and four rounds (104) of ammunition, three (3) improvised and explosive devices, assorted IED making material and foodstuff,” the statement adds.

In the recent past, Kenya troops have been conducting surprise attacks and taking control of Al-Shabaab camps.
