Reports indicated the 28-year-old passed away after he won the price which was Sh1000 on Sunday evening.
The competition required the participants to consume a five-litre bottle of Chang’aa and be proclaimed the winner.
The victim was pronounced dead at the body transferred to Kiminini Funeral Home, Trans Nzoia County.
Kakamega man dies during drinking competition on an empty stomach
In a similar incident in 2018, a man from Kakamega lost his life after participating in a drinking competition while on an empty stomach.
The man who had been identified as Mufutu Nyongesa, had gathered with some of his friends at a local bar and decided to have a drinking contest.
The winner would get more alcohol as the prize, if they managed to drink the most liquor in the shortest time.
