Drama ensued at Rockland club on Friday night as two rivals clashed over the love of a woman, ending up in death.

Reports indicate that a confrontation ensued between Corporal David Gitahi alias Soldier Boy and a 36-year-old man identified as Esau Juma Mwanguku in which the middle aged police officer allegedly shot dead his rival.

On the fateful day, Corpral Gitau was on patrol at around 11:35 PM when he came face to face with his love rival at the club and confronted him for “trying to compete a government officer in eating from the same pot”.

Reports indicate that at the time of the brief confrontation followed by gun shots, both the police officer and the deceased were drunk.

The club’s manager Francis Chege reported the shooting incident at Taveta Police Station with police launching investigations.

Media reports attributed to Mr. Chege allege that the angry cop fired a single bullet into the chest of his rival, killing him on the spot.

Police sources indicate that circumstances surrounding the shooting are yet to be established with investigations underway.

People familiar with the two allege that they were embroiled in a bitter contest over the love of a woman who reportedly loved the deceased more than the police officer.

The name of the beauty queen at the center of the bitter love contest remains undisclosed

Corporal David Gitahi has since been arrested over the incident with the body of the deceased taken to Taveta Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
