Court acquits Moses Kuria

The court has acquitted Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria.

Kuria has been facing two counts incitement to violence charges since he was charged afresh in 2019.

In it's ruling the court indicated that based on its findings the charge is based on an unconstitutional clause.

He had denied the charge when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot.

Inciting violence

The Member of Parliament is accused of committing the offense on June 26, 2015 at Gatundu stadium in Gatundu town within Kiambu County.

In 2019, Kuria the court acquitted him of hate-speech and incitement to violence charges.

Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, in his ruling stated that the prosecution’s evidence was not enough.

Kuria was accused of inciting violence against ODM leader Raila Odinga and his wife Ida on September 5, 2017.
