High Court judge Byram Ongaya banned the ward representatives from discussing his impeachment until the due process is followed.
"The proposed motion by the MCA for the proposed impeachment as scheduled for Tuesday shall not proceed until due compliance of the standing order number 67 is complied with," the judge ruled.
Through his lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, Sonko argued that the issue of jurisdiction must first be dealt with before impeachment is tabled at the assembly.
The lawyer further revealed that according to the assembly clerk, neither the motion nor the verified signatures had been submitted to his office.
Governor Sonko had moved to court seeking orders to bar members of the Nairobi county assembly from debating the motion to impeach him.
His application comes just days after President Uhuru Kenyatta met with Nairobi MCAs at State House where they supposedly discussed the impeachment issue.
