Children's home closed after claims of 9 boys sodomised

A court on Wednesday ordered the closure of Martyrs of Uganda Children’s home located in Machakos County following claims that nine boys had been sodomized by the cook working at the home.

The decision came after allegations surfaced in February this year that one of the boys had reported that he had been sodomized by the cook who had worked at the institution for close to 10 years.

The county children department obtained a court order and with help from the police, made their way to shutdown the institution which is managed by the Catholic Church.

Boys moved to Machakos Rescue Centre and Remand

The boy indicated that the incident would occur in the orphanage’s kitchen where the cook would lure them and later threaten to deny them food if they told anyone.

The children had been taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital where an exam conducted to determine the truth of the matter revealed that they had been sodomised.

The boys have since been moved to Machakos Rescue Centre and Remand Home as police have begun investigations into the incident.
