An Eldoret court on Friday passed a 15-year jail term for Ramadhan Adam Athman after he was found guilty of being a terrorist.

Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa ruled that Athman was found guilty of being in possession of video clips, written oaths and other literatures that he had planned to use in radicalization of youths.

Obulusta further stated that the decision was influenced by the fact that his actions were contrary to the rules contained in the Prevention of Terrorism Act after Athman denied being a member of the Alshabaab terror group.

The convict had been arrested in June 2016 by police officers after residents of Kipkaren estate in Eldoret became concerned with the man’s behavior.

On the same day, three suspects linked to the Dusit terror attacked were released in Nyeri County.

The court released the suspects after it was established that the anti-terror team had no evidence against them.

The three namely Abdul Kibiringi, James Mwai Mwangi and Habiba Gedi Hunshur had been arrested in connection to the attack that left 21 people dead and several others injured.
