Another woman hacked by husband over tomatoes

Tragic

Tomatoes on display at a market

A man in Trans Nzoia county was on Tuesday arrested after he hacked his wife to death following a quarrel over money made from tomatoes sold at the market.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Ali stated that the man identified as Daniel Koech, murdered Prisca Cheruto on Monday after she refused to give him the money made from the sale.

"The problem came in because of proceeds of tomatoes sold. Ms Cheruto had refused to give money to the husband when he requested. That is where an argument began," remarked Ali.

The body of the deceased was found with deep cuts on the armpits and stomach that had been inflicted by a machete used by the suspect.

Woman killed over Ugali

In February this year, a woman was stabbed to death by her husband in Emukaba village, Kakamega County after she refused to cook ugali.

The man had stabbed the woman several times all over her body and later tried to conceal the blood and stab wounds by washing the wife’s body before he covered it in a blanket and hid it.

Neighbors to the 45-year-old man found the body of the deceased hidden in the house after they broke into the criminal’s premises while he was at a bullfighting event.
