The DCI on Sunday arrested a man identified as Shaban Wangatia Otinda over the kidnapping of an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officer.

Detectives from the George Kinoti led team stated that the 37-year-old man was apprehended at Kitengela, Nairobi, when he was receiving a Sh2 million ransom.

The officers noted that Otinda was set to be arraigned in court on Monday and that the victim had been rescued.

“The victim was found safe and rescued.

“The suspect will be arraigned in court Monday,” stated one of the DCI detectives.

EACC officer goes missing after going herding

In December 2017, an EACC officer had been reported missing from his home.

EACC regional head Stephen Kotutwo had vanished from his home in Keben village, without a trace.

Police who were carrying out the investigation into the incident, pointed out that two women had been identified as main suspects as the law enforcers attempted to try and trace his last steps and communication.

Reports had claimed the anti-corruption officer had disappeared when he left home to herd cows on a farm where they had recently harvested maize.
