DCI and EACC detectives clash, shots fired over bribe cash

In a statement released on their social media platforms, EACC said they had arrested two detectives attached to the DCI for soliciting Sh1 million bribe from a foreigner.
However, after handcuffing them, the two DCI officers were rescued by their colleagues who shot in the air – forcing the unarmed EACC detectives to scamper to safety.

Kabete DCIO
The Anti-corruption body says it is being assisted by Kabete DCIO in hunting down the suspects.
"The two suspects are officers were arrested by officers & handcuffed but were rescued by their colleagues from Kabete Police Station who fired several rounds of ammunition as warning shots to facilitate the escape of their colleagues.”
“Officers escaped with Kshs. 100,000 trap money while handcuffed. Kabate DCIO is facilitating officers to find the suspects,” EACC said a press statement.

Unarmed Detectives
EACC detectives have in the previous past faced numerous incidents of being attacked by corrupt officers who are protected by their colleagues.
A similar incident took place in Thika's Witeithie area after six traffic police officers were arrested while soliciting bribes from motorists.
Unknown to the EACC detectives, the six police officers had notified their colleagues who arrived with a police patrol - armed to the teeth for the sole purpose of rescuing their colleagues.
Two officers from the anti-corruption body were injured.
