1 person reported dead after trailer crashes into bus at Mau Summit along Nakuru-Eldoret highway

A nasty accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Monday morning claimed the life of one person and is reported to have left 11 others seriously injured.

The accident involved a trailer and a bus which collided at the Mau Summit area at about midnight after the trailer reportedly lost control.

The casualty of the accident was a passenger in the trailer at the time of the accident while the driver of the trailer attempted to escape the scene.

The bus was ferrying members of the Evangelical Church of Christ (ECC) who were traveling from Nairobi enroute to Kisumu and Siaya.

Bishop Charles Ooko who was one of the passengers on the bus recounted details of the incident to reporters.

Weekend of accidents

On Saturday, three people lost their lives along the Kitui-Machakos highway after a 14-seater matatu they were traveling in overturned.

The driver lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst and the vehicle veered off the road and overturned, occasioning injuries, three of them fatal,” Mwala Sub-Couty Police boss Ronald Kirui told the Standard.

10 survivors were rushed to the Machakos Level 5 Hospital for further treatment.
