Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Public Safety Edward Mbugua has undertaken a mass reshuffle.

The reshuffle, however, affected lower cadre and mid-level officers to bolster the country’s national security.

97 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and 214 Inspectors of Police (IP) have either confirmed or promoted to new ranks.

The Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service has approved the deployment of the following officers with immediate effect,” a circular from Police Headquarters read in part.

Reshuffled officers

Notably, all police officers affected are in operational capacity and station command level.

KICC Police Station Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Paul Rioba has been promoted as the Deputy Sub -County Police Commander (D/Scpc) in Marsabit Central Police Station.

Samson Lweri has been promoted as the Mombasa D/SCPC attached to the Standard Gauge Railway.

Mohamed Diriye has been moved to Dagoretti as the Deputy Sub County police boss.

Among the units affected include the Presidential Escort Unit, General Service Unit (GSU), Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU), Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and the Traffic Department.

Mbugua expressed concerns over rampant cases of officers from APS who were recently amalgamated into KPS remaining unassigned duties.
