Detectives arrest bodaboda rider after raping foreigner who requested ride to Kileleshwa

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a bodaboda rider for raping and injuring a foreign national who had requested for a ride to Kileleshwa.

In a statement, DCI said the suspect Dennis Wekesa went into hiding after the incident and was arrested at Gachie area.

The suspect is reported to have committed the heinous act on the night of March 7, 2020 after the victim requested for a ride via a hailing App from Nairobi’s Parklands and was headed to Kileleshwa.

According to DCI, the incident occurred while they were on the way to Kileleshwa where Wekesa is said to have wrestled and raped the foreign national before fleeing with her belongings.

DCI mentioned that the victim was treated and is in a stable condition. The suspect will be charged in court.

@DCI_Kenya Special Service Unit detectives last night managed to arrest a suspected rapist namely Dennis Wekesa at Gachie Area. Wekesa is suspected to have raped his victim on the night of 7/3/2020 after the foreign national residing in Kenya requested a bodaboda trip through a Hailing App while at Anahita Apartments within Parklands and was to be dropped at Siaya road within Kileleshwa. Enroute Kileleshwa, the motorcycle rider wrestled, raped and dumped her where he later fled with her personal effects, switched off his phone and went into hiding. The victim was treated at a local hospital, discharged and is in a fair condition. The 27 year old suspect will be arraigned once necessary Police procedure is complete,” said DCI.
