Abduction plot to get Ksh3 million thwarted

Detectives arrested a house girl and her daughter after it emerged they were behind the kidnapping of a 7-year-old boy.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said two women in were arrested over the incident, a house help Leah Muhonja, 47, and her 3-year-old daughter Charlotte Musimbi.

The boy was abducted from their Loresho home in Nairobi and rescued by sleuths from the Child Protection Unit.

Police nabbed the suspects after they placed a bait pretending they had the Ksh3 million they had demanded in order to return the boy to his parents safely.

Police said the house girl had colluded with her daughter to commit the crime.

Victim reunited with family

The victim was reunited with his family at their home on Thursday afternoon.

He was kidnapped from their home on Tuesday evening by the house girl’s daughter who drove to the boy’s home in a salon car.

According to the house girl Leah Muhoya, the “kidnapper” arrived in a salon car and told her she had been sent by the boy’s parents to pick him up.

Head of the unit Pius Gitari said they are investigating to establish if there are other parties that were involved in the incident.
