Detectives gun down 4 in Nairobi in fierce shootout to save Chinese national

4 suspects who had demanded 1 Million USD shot in dramatic shootout

Heavy gunfire was reported in Nairobi’s Dagoretti estate after detectives moved in to rescue a Chinese national who was abducted and held at gunpoint since Thursday.

The detectives moved in stealthily and opened fire on the four armed suspects after they defied orders to surrender.

The suspects had demanded a ransom of 1 million US dollars to release the victim.

"TODAY @DCI_Kenya Detectives rescued a Chinese national who was on Thursday this week Abducted from his shop by a gang purporting to be DCI Officers, & the said criminals who wouldn't heed to a surrender order fatally injured.” Stated DCI on Twitter.

DCI added that investigation led the detectives to Sun Track Estate Hse no. 2199 where the victim was being held under an armed four-men-guard, who had demanded 1Million USD ransom from his brother to secure his release.

“Stealthily & tactfully approaching the scene in order to save life, and amid a fierce exchange of fire with the armed criminal gang, the four were gunned down among them an AP Officer & a Pistol recovered with several rounds of ammunition. A M/Vehicle make Nissan Tiida Reg. No. KCW 731L also detained. Victim safe and back to his liberty” Added the statement.
