Deputy President William Ruto has cleared the air on the how his office was used in Rashid Echesa's Sh 40 Billion fake arms scandal that has been linked to the murder of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei, leaving the former CS exposed as a "crook" after contradicting his statement and exposing several lies.

continues to make headlines with Deputy President William Ruto calling for comprehensive investigations to establish the truth, and in the process, exposing former CS Rashid Echesa who ia at the heart of the scandal.

In a letter, the DP left the fomrer CS badly exposed after he maintained that crooks had accessed his office.

In an earlier interview with NTV, Echesa had stated that he enjoys a close friendship with the DP and does not need an appointment to see the DP who is a close friend.

“Deputy President is my friend. we have been friends for a very long time. i don’t even need an appointment to see the Deputy President because he is my friend. And to add on to that, I have been a Cabinet Minister in this country…” Echesa stated.

However, in an interesting turn of events, the DP’s office maintained that Echesa’s controversial visit to his Harambee House Office, led by Echesa was in fact a breach of security by crooks.

“We appreciate efforts made by the DCI to investigate fraudulent access to the office of the DP by crooks and cartels as well as a probe into the death of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei.” read the statement.

The statement added that “the entry into the office of the DP that was aided by some security officers was a breach of security.”

"Crooks" receive warm reception, VIP treatment

The remarks came after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations released CCTV footage that showed Sgt Kenei’s last moments at Harmbee House Annex on the same day that Echesa and his delegation visited for the suspect mission in the fake arms deal.

The statement left the former CS badly exposed and at odds to explain his visit as according to the DP, the visit was by crooks who were not welcome to his office, but breached security during the controversial visit.

The DP and his staff on the other hand are at odds to explain the warm reception that the “crooks” received as the CCTV footage shows Echesa and his delegation ushered into the office in style with security officers saluting him and granting him access to the VIP section of the office and the boardroom.

How “crooks” received such a reception is a matter that continues to baffle many.

The DP also disputed claims that Echesa’s visit lasted more than an hour as reported after the CCTV footage was made public.

The footage shows that former Sports CS Rashid Echesa and his three accomplices were inside the building from 9.38 to 10.02.

“The rest of the footage shows their movement outside the office,” the statement said.
