In an early morning tweet, DP Ruto demanded clear answers on how the police officer who was attached to his office was murdered.
"The truth must be found on why, how and who killed Sgt Kenei. The family, ODP, Kenyans want the truth & justice and culprits held to account.
"The drama, distortions, convenient half-truths and the smear campaigns in sponsored headlines amounts to criminal cover up," DP Ruto tweeted.
The scathing tweet came just hours after his Chief of Staff Ken Osinde released the DP's official statement on the DCI's investigations at Harambee House Annex.
CCTV footage
DCI Kinoti on Thursday aired CCTV footage of the DP's office on the day when former Sports CS Rashid Echesa and his accomplices held a meeting to discuss a fraudulent arms deal.
Sergeant Kenei, who featured prominently in the footage, had been summoned by the DCI to record a statement on the matter only to be found dead in his Imara Daima house.
Investigators would later reveal that the Sergeant's alleged suicide was, in fact, murder.
