DP Ruto comes to the aid of a young boy

Ian Kipkoech,a Pre-Unit student at Olengisha Bright Star Academy in Bomet has been sponsored for specialized treatment by Deputy President William Ruto.

The young boy caught the DP's attention after he narrated a poem to entertain Ruto in a public forum.

DP Ruto is said to have spoken to Ian's mother, Yvonne Chelegat who told the DP of her son's plight living with a swollen head after he was diagnosed with Spina Bifida.

Birth defect

Ms Chelegat told the DP that although she had sought treatment for the 7-year-old to treat the birth defect, they could not afford treatment.

On Tuesday, DP Ruto sent his team to Ian's aid as they airlifted both him and his mother for specialized treatment at the Aga Khan hospital.

Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso accompanied Ian and his mother and also thanked the DP for keeping his promise to help the young man.

Treatment

"Accompanied Ian Kipkoech, who is proceeding for specialized treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, this afternoon," Governor Dr Laboso stated.

"Thank you Your Excellency the DP @WilliamsRuto for keeping the promise to cater for the boy's medical bills," she added.

Spina bifida is a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don't form properly.
