DP Ruto was accompanied by Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis and Eldama Ravine Member of Parliament Moses Lessonet.

His visit comes after President Uhuru's trip to the Moi's family home in Kabarak, Nakuru on Monday where he conveyed his condolences following the death of Jonathan Toroitich Moi.

Uhuru spent two hours at the Moi family home, where he assured them of his support during this trying period.

The President paid tribute to Jonathan describing him as his friend and a brother, according to a press statement from State House.

Cancelled visit

Notably, Dr Ruto did not get an audience with former President Moi making this the second time the retired president has snubbed the DP.

In March 2018, Ruto visited the former President but he did not get to see him with the former President's handlers saying he was undergoing a routine medical checkup.

"Unfortunately, this coincided with the time Mzee Moi was undergoing routine physical exercise with his doctors. Mzee Moi agreed to meet him at a convenient time another day in the very near future,” read a statement from the former president’s office.
