Update: Police arrest five more suspected drug barons with heroin worth Sh170 million in Mombasa
Police on Sunday arrested five more suspected drug barons with 17 kilogrammes of heroin worth Sh170 million and Sh18 million in cash.
The five, including a female law student, are suspected to be drug traffickers in Mombasa and Kilifi counties.
According to Coast Regional Coordinator, Nelson Marwa the female student was a girlfriend of one of the two Seychellois.
"Two of the suspects were arrested with two kilogrammes of the heroin while the others were seized with 15 kilos of the drugs which was being hidden at a house in Bamburi for local distribution," Mr Marwa said at the Bamburi Police Station.
Police have also detained four vehicles belonging to the suspects for further investigations.
The arrests comes just a day after four other suspected drug barons were arrested in Mombasa and an unknown quantity of narcotics seized in a late-night raid.
Two South Africans and two Seychellois were arrested by multiagency detectives at an apartment adjacent to Nyali Beach Hotel on Saturday.
The two suspects from Seychelles were identified as Dominguez and Nedy Micock while the other suspects from South Africa are Barend Nolte and Marc Faivelewitz.
They were later deported to Seychelles on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Nelson Marwa has called for Suna East MP, Junet Mohamed to be investigated for drug links after calling him a monkey on a live television.
Marwa questioned why the MP was so concerned about drug trafficking at the Coast and “defending individuals” in the war on drugs.
Marwa wants the MP to be investigated and explain why he was so concerned about the drug trafficking at the coast.
