Kuria had proposed a new parliamentary committee that would oversee and oversight the newly created committee that gives Interior CS Fred Matiang’i immense powers in government.
However, Duale, on Monday said the changes by President Uhuru Kenyatta did not have any impact on Parliament and that there would be no need to duplicate roles that are already under various committees of parliament.
The Garissa Town MP further rejected Kuria’s proposal for him (Duale) to be a member of the committee.

“We cannot create a committee whose functions will overlap with those of others. He will need to convince the House on why another committee should be formed instead of using the existing ones.”
“I have other things to do in the House as the Leader of the Majority and therefore I’m not interested in being a member of such a committee,” Duale said.
The Gatundu South MP had proposed himself as the Chairman of the committee with Duale and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi as some of the proposed members.
Wandayi said he would comment on the proposal when the matter is officially presented on the floor of the House.
The development came a day before Matiang’i chaired the development Cabinet Committee at his Harambee House office - all Cabinet Secretaries attended.
