An aspiring Member of Parliament was on Tuesday attacked by gunmen during at Jabi along Rahmu- Bambo West road in Mandera.

Abdi Ali, who is seeking to get the Mandera North Parliamentary seat on a Narc-Kenya ticket, escaped death by a whisker when the thugs opened fired at his convoy.

A woman was killed during the ambush while another person was left injured.

Speaking after the mid-morning incident Abdi claimed that it was a political assassination.

He also sent condolences to the deceased families.

"We are asking the security team to investigate and get to the bottom of this. This was an attempt at a political assassination," the aspiring politician mentioned.
