3 shot during Uhuru's rally

Three people were shot after chaos erupted at President's Kenyatta's rally.

Two people are fighting for their lives at the Marsabit Referral Hospital after they were shot in chaos that erupted at President Kenyatta’s campaign rally in Marsabit town.

The two, and another one who was slightly injured, were shot as police battled to stop clashes between supporters of Jubilee and Frontier Alliance parties.

The critically injured patients were shot in the head and lower hip.

Reports indicate that the two rival groups, drawn from Gubernatorial candidates Ukur Yattani (Frontier Alliance) and Mohamud Ali (Jubilee), attacked each other with rocks after a shouting and chanting match failed to produce a clear winner.

Chaos is said to have begun moments after Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto left Marsabit town for Samburu.

The Yattani-Ali rivalry has played out several times in the county as the two come from two dominant tribes, Gabbra and Bora that want one of their own in the top county seat.
