Budalang’i Member of Parliament (MP) Ababu Namwamba has sent a rather unexpected message to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

ODM leader Raila Odinga and Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba

Speaking at Kimait in Bungoma County while opening Labour Party offices, Namwamba stated that the luyha community had backed presidential candidates from other regions and it was now their time. The former ODM secretary general noted that luhya community had supported Opposition leader Raila Odinga and it was now his turn to return the favor.

The legislator said that Wetangula and Mudavadi should stand their ground to be the coalition flagbearer and not play second fiddle in NASA."Let my brothers Mudavadi and Wetang'ula stand ground and demand to be supported to fly the NASA flag."For how long will members of the Luhya community support others? If they are not ready, let them make it public so that I start my preparations for 2022,"  Namwamba affirmed. Namwamba ditched the Orange Party and joined the Labour party where he is the leader.Namwamba's sentiments come hours after NASA principals retreated to Kilifi County to try and agree on who will be the Coalition's flagbearer.

The quartet was forced to hold the meeting due to a brewing storm in the alliance after NASA technical committee proposed Odinga to be the presidential candidate while Kalonzo his running mate. The wiper party leader and Muadavadi's team is said to have been irked by the final report with Kalonzo dismissing the report. The former vice president stated that it was only the principals who could name the flagbearer.Kalonzo's team had threatened to walk out of the alliance if he was not named the coalition's presidential candidate.Meanwhile, after intense talks on Sunday night by NASA principals the four failed to agree on who would he the flagbearer.
