All set for NASA to unveil its coalition agreement tomorrow

The opposition outfit is set to face Jubilee Party in August polls.

Speaking shortly after a coalition’s coordinating committee meeting at Serena Hotel in Nairobi, Orengo has said that the coalition mending agreement will be signed in a ceremony slated for tomorrow Wednesday after the leaders read and accept it.

NASA’s top brass lead by ODM’s Raila Odinga, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi of Amani National congress (ANC) and Moses Wetang'ula of Ford Kenya had earlier said the team will also select a running mate for the presidential candidate.

Raila, Kalonzo trusted – Ipsos

In the recent polls by the surveyor Ipsos Kenya, ODM’s Raila Odinga was found to be more trusted in the NASA coalition, raising questions on whether he would be the flag bearer of the opposition’s coalition.

The poll showed 51 per cent confidence in Raila's leadership followed closely by Kalonzo at 42 per cent, Mudavadi at 41 per cent while Wetang'ula trolled at 34 per cent.

Those polled argued that they had no confidence in Wetang'ula's leadership, and that it was little if any.

In the survey, it was found that 61 per cent participants had little confidence in Wetang'ula, who is currently holding a senatorial seat of Bungoma County.

He was followed by Kalonzo at 56 per cent, Mudavadi 54, Raila 47 per cent and the opposition as a whole at 43 per cent.

Political analysts have argued that the NASA outfit is highly likely to pick on Odinga, despite relentless effort signaled by Wiper’s Musyoka over the betrayal claims he went through under Raila’s 2013 botched deal.

Elections dilemma

In equal measure, the general election could well be a rematch between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila, despite much talk and deliberate suspense about another joint opposition flag bearer.

Apart from Raila Odinga, who has a secret presidential secretariat, no other Cord co-principal has a full-fledged presidential secretariat.

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka had earlier said the presidential poll will be a two-horse race between NASA and Jubilee.
