Speaking on Tuesday in Kiambu County, Kabogo told Joho to keep his hands ‘off the President’ and respect him.
“I want to send a strong message to Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. Leave President Uhuru Kenyatta alone! I know where you live. And I am sending this stern message to you, Joho, leave his Excellency the President alone. Leave Uhuru Kenyatta alone. Respect the President,” Kabogo said.
The Kiambu Governor urged Joho to focus on serving the residents of Mombasa and not following the President everywhere.
However, Joho has refuted claims of insulting Kenyatta stating, “People have accused me of insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta. I have never done that. I cannot abuse anyone.”
On Tuesday evening, the Mombasa Governor claimed that his life was in danger following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s threat.
"Joho should stop following me. I am not his wife. He should come here and explain what he has done for this country... He should not play with us, if he plays with us we will teach him a lesson," Kenyatta said on Monday during launch of Mtongwe services.

Joho said that the Presidents utterances should not be taken lightly considering it was a threat on his life. "The President said he will deal with me. This means anything can happen to me. It is a direct threat and it is not easy to handle a direct threat from a head of state," Joho stated.
