Meet the 17 Billionaires funding Uhuru & Raila

Full list of the powerful yet wealthy men behind the campaigns

Following the Sh10 million dinner organized in support of Mr. Kenyatta’s bid, some of the billionaires funding his campaigns have been unraveled.

The expensive dinner held at Safari Park Hotel on Friday was funded by Friends of the Jubilee Foundation.

There are seven wealthy registered members of the lobby group, that is strongly behind the Head of State in the August 8 General Election.

According to a report by a local daily the billionaires include:

1.   John PN Simba (Chairman) - a prominent advocate and business businessman. Mr Simba serves as Senior Partner at Simba and Simba Advocates.

He chairs and sits on the boards of several major Kenyan organisations, including the Nairobi University Council, Pan Africa Insurance Holdings and APA Insurance Limited.

2.  Titus Ibui is the secretary of the lobby group. He is the founder and Executive Director of Bell Industries Limited.

3. Paul Ndungu the billionaire behind Sportspesa is the Treasurer.

4. Peter Munga, the founder of Equity Bank is a member of the lobby group.

5. Joel Kibe, the director of Cooper Motor Corporation (CMC). He is a member of Friends of the Jubilee Foundation.

6. Peter Muthoka, the founder, and CEO of Andy Forwarders, one of Kenya’s largest transport and logistics firm. He is said to own over Sh132 million shares in CMC Motors.

7.  Pius Ngugi, one of the biggest producers of processed macadamia nuts which are exported to foreign markets.

8.  Suleiman Shabhal, Mombasa based billionaire, who is also seeking to ouster Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on a Jubilee ticket.

9.  Mary Wambui Mungai, a business massive interests across Africa.

10.  ICT guru and Karachuonyo MP James Rege.

11. Stanley Kinyanjui, owner of the multi-billion advertising company, Magnate Ventures.

12.  Sam Kairu, a Mombasa-based billionaire.

13.  Maina Wandere, the CEO of Wanderjoy Party World Ltd. He is in the event organizing business and has amassed a lot of wealth through it.

Top on Mr Odinga's list includes well-known billionaire Jimi Wanjigi, who is the CEO of the Kwacha Group of Companies, which has investments in real estate, agriculture, oil and manufacturing, among many other business ventures.

Others include Governor Joho and his Nairobi counterpart Evans Kidero. Former Kenya Ports boss Brown Ondego is also behind the campaigns.
