It is alleged that winners in the just concluded ODM party nominations have been forced to part with huge sums of money to secure their tickets.

Disgruntled aspirants, who have been declared winners in the nominations, on Monday evening stormed ODM headquarters in Nairobi crying foul of their certificate having been exchanged for money.

“I am tired, I have used all my resources to campaign, only to realise that my certificate has been issued to the person who was number seven in the nominations. I want to urge Raila Amolo Odinga, wherever you are, hear the cries of women,” Phannys Akosa, an aspirant for Nairobi’s Mukuru Kwa Reuben ward lamented.

Earlier, the Political Parties Tribunal heard that the Embakasi South MP Irshadali Sumra was doing the shoddy work, which involved massive corruption.

Embakasi North member of County Assembly aspirant Jairo Atenya has accused Mr Sumra of demanding a Sh1 million bribe in exchange for a nomination certificate.

The certificate that was meant for Atenya is has been allegedly handed to Omondi Obuya, who is governor Kidero’s bodyguard.

“Mr Sumra called me to let me know that I had been given a certificate. I went to Nation House and I didn’t find him. He blankly told me that I get him Sh1 million, so that I can be given the certificate,” Jairo Atenya narrated.

Mr Sumra has remained mum on the matter.

Nairobi’s ODM chairman George Aladwa, however, confirmed that the people who have neem issued with certificates in the two wards did not win the primaries, cementing further the accusation levelled against Mr Sumra.

The ODM National Elections Board, however, has not issued any statement in regards to these accusations, as the Judy Pareno led team remained mum.
