Popular Senator ditches Raila for Mudavadi's ANC
The Senator had been barred from vying for a Nairobi parliamentary seat by ODM.
Ongoro who is seeking to vie for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat during the August elections, had been barred from vying for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat by ODM on what the party said as “disciplinary grounds”.
Senator Ongoro cited mistreatment and unfairness by ODM "political mercenaries" as the reasons for her decamping to ANC.
She blamed senior party officials at the party for her misfortunes but insisted she still supports the National Super Alliance.
She said women had been taken for granted and suffered for too long and the time had come for the people to decide their own leaders without fear or intimidation.
Ongoro was also instructed to be pay a Sh1 million and barred from vying against Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang’ on what the party said was indiscipline.
She was also ordered to apologise to ODM and its party leader Raila Odinga.
Ongoro was handed a direct ticket by Mudavadi and will vie for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat on an ANC ticket.
She was officially received and handed her ANC life membership certificate by ANC Secretary-General Godfrey Osotsi on Friday at the party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi.
