The Presidential Debate that was scheduled for Monday, July 10 has been cancelled.

The debate that would pit eight Presidential Candidates has now been moved to Monday the 24th of July whereas the running mates debate that was planned for the 17th of July will progress as scheduled.

The decision to postpone the date came after a High Court ruling which dismissed a petition by one of the Presidential Candidates to temporarily call off the debate.

The candidate, Abduba Dida of Alliance for Real Change party, had brought forward a case to court arguing that the debate’s rule of staging two candidates together was discriminative.

He lauded the court's decision terming it as a "landmark in the history of our young constitution."

Mr.Waruru said that the committee would ensure they deliver a fruitful debate that would help Kenyans vote wisely in the upcoming general election.
