Opposition leader Raila Odinga embarrassed a member of the National Super Alliance (NASA) party in public on Saturday while on a campaign tour in Machakos County.

The NASA leader publicly told ODM party hopeful Michael Mutuku to shelve his bid for the Mavoko MP seat in favour of Wiper candidate Patrick Makau.

Raila said the two parties should stop fielding candidates for Ukambani MP and MCA positions to prevent division.

He warned this could make elections easier for Jubilee or Maendeleo Chap Chap, whose leader is Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

“Kalonzo Musyoka na mimi ni kama chanda na pete. Hatutaki mgawanyiko wa kura hapa Ukambani (Kalonzo and I are very close. We do not want division of votes in Ukambani).”

“We will talk to the ODM candidate so that we support Makau,” said Raila.

He promised Mutuku a job in his government should he take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Besides endorsing Patrick Makau, Raila also rooted for the support of Wiper’s Machakos governor candidate Wavinya Ndeti and ODM's Athi River Township MCA hopeful Tyrus Omondi.

“Wacheni tugawane hizi viti katikati (Let us divide the seats equally)," he said.
