National Super Alliance Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga has released a list of 42 police officers that he says have been deployed as IEBC clerks and agents.
While speaking to the press on Thursday morning, Raila said that the officers drawn from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), National Intelligence Service (NIS), General Service Unit (GSU) and the Kenya Police Dog Unit, have been deployed by Jubilee to help in rigging the elections.
He said that the officers have been given 'special duties' to serve as Polling Clerks, Returning Officers and Jubilee Party Agents.
In light of this, the NASA flag bearer made special demands to the Inspector General of the Police Joseph Boinnett with regards to these officers allegedly deployed by the Jubilee team.
He asked the Police boss to explain the nature of the 'special duties' the police officers have been assigned. Additionally, Raila asked Mr. Boinnett to shed light on the criteria used to pick these officers as well as state whether there are other law-enforcers involved in the Special Duty assignment.
"We are poised for a win in the election and the military must not be used to subvert the will of the people," Mr Odinga said.
The NASA leader asked his arch-rival President Uhuru Kenyatta to show by action his preparedness to play by the rules and respect the will of the people.
