Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, who lost terribly during the primaries, disclosed that powerful individuals in the Orange party, offered him the ticket on condition that he will support Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga.
According to the National Assembly deputy minority leader, ODM’s top brass forced him to renounce his support for Rasanga’s rival - Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo - and his reward would be the ODM ticket.
“They called me in Nairobi and persuaded me to take the Gem parliamentary seat ticket but I rejected this condition that Gumbo (Rarieda MP) too be given his,” Midowo stated.
The legislator highlighted that leaders in the Party could cost Mr Odinga the Presidency in the August 8 General Election.
"Colleagues surrounding Raila do not mean well for his presidency. They are busy backbiting others and trying to destabilise the party," he noted.
Speaking in Bondo Town, Midiwo divulged that after the much-awaited poll, he will bring together like-minded politicians and remove those who want to wreak havoc in the Orange Party.
Also at the meeting, Gumbo mentioned that Midiwo’s certificate was stolen and given to Elisha Odhiambo while his was unfairly handed to Rasanga.
The two politicians have vowed to vie as independent candidates but Midiwo has insisted that he will not abandon ODM.
