The revelations were made by Mudavadi’s campaign official Godfrey Kanoti who disclosed that Odinga made the promise in 2016 before they agreed to Join NASA.
According to Kinoti, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka would have been the running mate to Mudavadi and Odinga himself the Prime Minister, if the coalition won the August 8 polls.
“This was a gentleman’s agreement that was struck late last year and we expect that it will be honored,” Kanoti told the Star.
However, ODM director of elections Junet Mohamed denied the claims stating that the former Prime Minister had never made such an agreement.
“I do not think there is anything like that. Raila cannot make such a decision alone and if there is anything of that nature, it must be bar talk,” Mohamed affirmed.
On the other hand, Wiper chairman David Musila noted that they were never made aware of such an agreement when they joined the alliance.
“Our leader Kalonzo Musyoka is not aware of any such agreement and neither is Wiper as a party. All we are waiting for now is for our principals to meet and agree on the line-up. And we will back whoever they choose,” Musila said.

The latest revelations continue to split the NASA principals who have failed to agree on who would be the coalition presidential candidate.
Kalonzo’s team has maintained that he must be made the flagbearer or they will bolt out of the alliance.
