President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto may be avoiding the Presidential Debate on grounds of the “biased” journalists selected to moderate them, a Jubilee politician has revealed.
The only journalist Jubilee want to host the Presidential Debate
Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta would only attend the Debate if it were hosted by...
Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja brought these details to light on Monday morning during a TV show and instead revealed the renowned media personality that Jubilee Party would prefer to moderate the debate.
“In all fairness, Jubilee candidates or any other candidate for that matter, will not be comfortable attending debates and fielding questions from journalists who are commenting negatively on their Twitter pages. We want the likes of John Sibi Okumu to come and moderate our debates,” Sakaja stated.
John Sibi Okumu is a well-known media personality with a wealth of experience in the industry. Over the years, he has been recognizable, especially to Kenyan listeners and viewers alike, as a radio and television newsreader and presenter. He has worked with reputable media stations such as KTN and KISS TV.
The Presidential Debate will see KTN’s Yvonne Okwara host the 5.30pm session whereas NTV’s Linus Kaikai and KTN's Joe Ageyo will moderate the main session between Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA's Raila Odinga at 8pm.
President Kenyatta however indicated that he would skip the debate citing a busy campaign schedule and lack of consultation. He also accused the debate organizers of colluding with NASA and letting 'NASA-friendly moderators' to humiliate him during the show.
