Reports indicate that Kiptire was abducted by four men who claimed to be police men in a black Toyota Prado.
His lifeless body was found dumped in a thicket in Kamatira Forest in West Pokot County on Saturday in a murder that has left Murkomen in shock.
“I am shattered. I am in so much pain. My friend & brother Hon.Pastor.Benson Kiptire former MCA Kapyego has been murdered.” Murkomen wrote.
“Benson was my County Office Liason officer. I am still in utter shock. Please pray for his wife, children and ailing mother. Pray for us all !” He added.
West Pokot County police commander Jackson Tumwet confirmed that “The body of a middle-aged and smartly-dressed man with an injury on the head has been discovered dumped in Kamatira Forest. No identification documents were found with the body”.
Picked by 'police' in Eldoret
Kiptire who served as an MCA for Kipyego was picked from his business premises in Eldoret town with Marakwet East MP Kangogo Bowen announcing his disappearance in a post that read:
"Dear all, I am told the former Kapyego MCA Benson Kiptire was taken away by unknown people in a Land Cruiser Prado KBW with four men onboard who claim to be policemen at his shop at Rock Center in Eldoret at around 12 noon today (Friday)”
Initial reports indicate that he may have been murdered elsewhere before his body was transported and dumped in a thicket.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
