The announcement comes two weeks after the government named Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna as Kiraithe’s replacement as Government Spokesman.
Kiraithe left the position after serving as government spokesperson for three years.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru who announced Oguna’s appointment said the latter’s office will be based at the Ministry of ICT in line with an Executive Order from the office of the President.

He pointed out that the retired Colonel shall have an oversight role of all government communications channels under his ministry.
After the government announced Oguna’s appointment, Kiraithe congratulated him and assured Kenyans that the former military man was up to the task as they had worked together before.
