The family of Kikuyu legendary singer John DeMathew has said it has recognized his two wives - Sabina Wairimu, and Carolyne Waithira, adding that there would be no family disputes in the burial process.
The family said the late musician was a proud polygamous who dutifully took care of his family.
DeMathew’s younger brother, Evans Mburu, said the family had talked to his two wives, assuring the musician’s fans that there would be no conflict.
“We recognise the two wives, Mama Shiku (Wairimu) and Waithera. His two wives are known and we have talked to them. Everyone knows that he has two wives and they will not fight,” Mburu stated.
An obituary announcement seen by Pulse Live Kenya and meant to be published in tomorrow’s (Wednesday) newspapers, listed Sabina and Carolyne as the spouses, as well as seven children.
The children include Jane Waithira, Everlyne Wanjiku, Chrissp Kamau, Stecy Wanjiku, Lenny Ng'ang'a, Tyress Thiru, and Wyne Mathew Nganga Junior.
The late musician will be buried on Saturday August 24th at his rural home in Gathiruini village which will be preceded by a funeral service at Githambia Primary School.
