The family of Kikuyu legendary singer John DeMathew has said it has recognized his two wives - Sabina Wairimu, and Carolyne Waithira, adding that there would be no family disputes in the burial process.

The family said the late musician was a proud polygamous who dutifully took care of his family.

DeMathew’s younger brother, Evans Mburu, said the family had talked to his two wives, assuring the musician’s fans that there would be no conflict.

We recognise the two wives, Mama Shiku (Wairimu) and Waithera. His two wives are known and we have talked to them. Everyone knows that he has two wives and they will not fight,” Mburu stated.
