Jubilee Governor & Senator Clash, Exchanging Words during important Event

Provoking me- Senator lashes out

Governor and Senator clash in public

Governor Muthomi Njuki and Senator Kindiki Kithure clashed during the Ura Gate Tharaka cultural festivals.

The rivalry between the two played out in public after Prof Kindiki's supporters heckled the governor.

The event’s coordinator had invited Prof Kindiki to speak and then invite Governor Njuki but the former's supporters would hear none of it.

According to the event’s programme, the governor was to be the guest speaker during the event’s opening on Friday, while the senator was to officially close it on Saturday.

Addressing the public Senator Kindiki said: “The programme was clear that I was supposed to be the chief guest today and thus I should be the last to speak."

Neglecting the event

He continued: "The Governor refused to come to this event on Friday as per the programme and coming today is tantamount to provoking me.”

Senator Kindiki also accused the county government of neglecting the event and failing to allocate funds required.

"It is the responsibility of the county government to allocate funds for these events and the Governor should not leave this place before announcing an allocation for next year’s event,” said Kindiki.

Governor Njuki informed the public that sponsors willing to support the event turned away when its planning turned political as Kindiki’s supporters heckled.
