Nine people have been confirmed dead with several others rushed to hospital with severe injuries following a fatal road accident on Sunday morning.

The 2 AM accident saw a passenger bus and a truck collide head on along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
Among those who perished in the crash were drivers of the two vehicles.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu stated that the two vehicles collided head-on at Kamaru on Sunday at about 2am.
The injured were rushed to Eldama Ravine Hospital as residents turned up to remove the bodies stuck in the wreckage.
A local resident who rushed to the scene of the crash confirmed that "We managed to retrieve all the seven bodies from the wrecked vehicles at around 4am after which the police cleared the scene".
Eldama Ravine Hospital confirmed having received 74 people who were injured among them five children and two students who were heading home for the half term break.
Reports indicate that the bus which was ferrying passengers from Bungoma to Nairobi had 65 passengers at the time of the accident.
