Ms. Kenyatta, who is the patron of the initiative, will be the guest of honor at the summit, where stock will be taken of the successes and challenges of Beyond Zero campaign over the past four years.

“The overall objective of the summit is to serve as a platform for leaders to reflect on the achievements and missed opportunities on maternal, neonatal, child and adolescents health targets over the last four years,” First Lady’s statement read in part.

Apart from refocusing, the First Lady will also award individuals and corporates that have exemplary contributed to the Beyond Zero initiative.

The leadership summit set to be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, will see over 1000 participants from the National and County Governments and Non-State Actors including the campaign's officials.

The Beyond Zero campaign is an initiative by First Lady to aid in the health problems of mothers, neo-nates, children, and adolescents from across the country.

It was launched in January 2014 to partner with the government in reducing maternal and child mortality.

Through the campaign, Ms. Kenyatta has been able to distribute 47 fully-kitted mobile clinics in all the counties across the country.

The initiative which has received international recognition has seen Ms Kenyatta being awarded by several organization.

In 2016, Beyond Zero was recoginised as one of the strongest in East Africa.

In 2014, the First Lady was named the United Nations in Kenya Person of the Year for her efforts to stop preventable maternal and newborn deaths in the country through her ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign.
