I will wear a hijab and sneak into Uganda – Babu Owino on Museveni’s ban

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Tuesday said that he would not be intimidated by the reported directive declaring persona non granta (unwanted person) in Uganda.

Owino said he would continue to support popular opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

The city MP said he was willing to go any lengths, including sneaking into Uganda to support his friend Bobi Wine.

I am not allowed to enter Uganda. Museveni says he will cut down my legs but when the politics heats up, I will even wear a hijab or a ninja outfit and sneak into Uganda”.

I support Bobi Wine. I will make sure he gets the seat and I will even support him financially by doing harambees here in Kenya. Presidents don’t create new presidents and its important we create a rapport with him early because that will ensure,” Owino said.

Last year, Owino said he had received information that Museveni had warned him not to step into Uganda on account of the Embakasi East legislator’s close relationship with Bobi.

Last year, Owino hosted the Ugandan opposition leader in Nairobi – a few weeks after Bobi left prison where he was tortured and held for several days.

The Ugandan politician and musician is still engaged in run ins with the Museveni administration that has accused of dictatorship and political intolerance.
