Inspector General Joseph Boinnet on Monday appointed a new police boss as the Head of Operations in Nairobi County.

Jackson B. Tumwet was appointed as the head of operations and would assist the new police regional commander Joseph Ndolo in the running of matters in the county.

Speaking during a workshop in Mombasa, the police boss pointed out that Nairobi County didn’t have a county commander since the role had already been taken up by the current regional commander Ndolo.

“We do not have a County Commander for Nairobi region. The Regional Commander is effectively the county commander.

“That has been the tradition over the years and we decided to stick with that,” stated Boinnet.

As part of the announcement, Boinnet named new 46 county police commanders in the recent reshuffles within the unit.

Jose Ole Tito replaced

On January 3, the tough talking IG, named new regional police bosses and pointed out that the changes showed ethnic balance and gender parity.

Ndolo replaced Jose Ole Tito who had served as the police commandant since February 2018.

During the reshuffle that occurred three weeks ago, Boinnet had reiterated that the replaced bosses would be deployed elsewhere within the force.

A total of 43 senior officers in February last year, were reshuffled to new positions.
