Jubilee Governor 'to reward' Raila's allies

Raila Odinga campaigned for the governor who later retained his seat

Celebrated Jubilee governor Jackson Mandago has promised various jobs for Raila-allied MCAs who lost in the just concluded elections.

The duo, who were in the Opposition, lost to their Jubilee Party rivals in a tense battle for Uasin Gishu’s Huruma and Langas wards.

During the campaigns, Mr Mandago publicly campaigned for them despite being in NASA.

After the visit by Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Mr Mandago and Kapseret Constituency lawmaker Oscar Sudi pushed for ODM’s Charles Okumu ahead of the battle against Francis Muya (Jubilee) for the Langas post.

For Huruma Ward, however, the two (Mandago and Sudi) backed Andrew Sure against Jubilee's Peter Chomba.

Okumu and Sure, who supported Mandago, lost in the poll but the Governor says he will have new jobs for them.

“I have told them that even though Baba [Raila Odinga] lost in the polls, they should not be worried because Baba Mdogo (Mandago) won and they will be part of my team," he said in Eldoret on Wednesday.

Mr Mandago also defended IEBC over NASA claims that the general election may have been rigged to deny Raila victory.

Raila Odinga has since moved to court to challenge the outcome of the polls.
