TV anchor Jackie Maribe and her fiance Jowie

Citizen TV news anchor Jackie Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowie were in court on Thursday for the mention of their case.

Photos surfaced online of Jackie accompanied by her celebrity friends in court where she faces murder charges for the death of Monica Kimani.

Ms Maribe's application to have her car released to her were denied by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Evidence

The State maintained that the car was part of the exhibit and evidence in the gruesome murder of Ms Kimani.

In an affidavit filed in court, the investigating officer Maxwell Otieno says the car and Jacque’s mobile phone handset will be relied on during the prosecution’s case.

Police established that Mr Irungu was driving the car, which is registered in Maribe’s name when he was spotted at Limuria Apartments before Monica’s body was discovered.

Last year, Ms Maribe through her lawyer Katwa Kigen, accused DPP Noordin Haji of acting in contempt of court by refusing to allow her to have her house as well as witness statements relating to her trial.

According to police, Irungu was also driving the same car at about 1.30am on September 21, when he claimed to have been shot and wounded in the chest.
