Jacque Maribe's dad, Mwangi Maribe, surprises daughter with birthday cake at Milimani law courts

Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe on Tuesday had a reason to smile after her father, Maribe Mwangi, surprised her with a special birthday gift as they attended a hearing at the Milimani Law Courts.

Mwangi presented his daughter with a birthday cake shortly after the mention of a case where Maribe is accused of murdering businesswoman Monica Kimani alongside her fiancé Joseph Jowie Irungu.

Pillar of support

The journalist’s father later posted a photo as he presented his daughter with a cake with the caption, “after attending court, time to remember its her birthday. Right there at the Law Courts.”

Mwangi has been a constant pillar of support after his daughter was arrested and charged with the murder.

The businessman who previously contested the Kiharu parliamentary seat won social media admiration for his unwavering support to Maribe during her high publicized case.

Hug with Jowie Irungu

During Tuesday’s court session, the Citizen TV journalist and her fiancé excited the court room with their first emotional embrace since the murder case that strained their romantic relationship.

She also lost her bid to get back her car which the Director of Public Prosecutions said would remain in state custody until the government chemist completes process of collecting forensic evidence.
