Exclusive: Meet the top boy in KCSE 2018

James Kaluna from Maseno High School became the top boy in the country after the release of the 2018 KCSE results by Education CS Amina Mohamed.

Speaking to Pulselive.co.ke, Kaluna’s sister revealed that she was overjoyed after she received the news.

I am excited. This is what he had been praying for and working towards.

“He has made us very proud. We thank God,” remarked the sister.

Kaluna, who according to the sister had been performing well during his time in school, got an A of 84 points after he scored 434 marks during his KCPE examinations.

She further explained that the brother got his wish when he was called to join the national school.

Pulselive.co.ke also got the opportunity to speak with Kaluna who expressed his joy after excelling in his KCSE exams.

"It has been a long journey and I am happy of my achievement," stated Kaluna.

He pointed out that his parents were so happy and the first thing they did was they ran to church.

The last born in the family of two, expressed his desire to pursue medicine and surgery.

Kaluna revealed that the reason behind the choice was due to his desire to help people.

"I am determined to help people and come up with new ways to fight diseases," expressed the former Maseno High School student.

During the release of the results, Josphat Mwangi Kamau of Nyoro Secondary School, Mathioya sub-county, Murang'a was recognised as the most improved candidate of the year by CS Amina.

The CS revealed that the government had introduced a new analysis system that would show the most improved students based on what they scored in their KCPE exams.
